Senior Infrastructure Engineer & Cloud Team Lead

Overview

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at HMRC, you will lead an infrastructure delivery team and own day-to-day platform management. You’ll drive cloud-based projects and help reduce tech debt while keeping environments secure and up-to-date. You’ll collaborate with architects and service managers to resolve issues and improve services, delivering cost-aware, reliable infrastructure. Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate infrastructure delivery tasks to resolve incidents quickly
• Suggest and implement improvements to practices and environments
• Deliver new cloud infrastructure through projects
• Maintain secure, updated production environments and manage tech debt
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and service managers to fix problems and escalate repeat issues
• Identify opportunities to improve service and reduce costs
• Coach and mentor junior team members and ensure capability levels meet organizational needs

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in an enterprise infrastructure environment
• Technical delivery role experience in complex IT infrastructure projects
• Experience building and supporting cloud infrastructure solutions
• Experience in managing cloud environments
• Windows Server administration (current and legacy versions)
• Experience with core infrastructure services and interdependencies (AD, group policy, networking, monitoring, backups)
• Translate strategy/architecture into deliverable operational solutions
• Establish monitoring solutions and transition from legacy data centres to VMware platforms
• Delivery management and process underpinning virtual server platforms (Microsoft Server and database tech) including security and monitoring
