Overview

In this role you lead the Trust’s fire safety service, guiding strategy and assurance across multi-site operations. You’ll advise the Board, shape policy, and drive compliance with fire and building safety legislation. You bring substantial NHS fire safety experience, strong leadership, and the credibility to influence at all levels. Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the fire safety service, including policies, risk assessments, evacuation strategies, and long-term improvement programmes
  • Oversee audits, systems, equipment, training, incident investigations and compliance across acute and community sites
  • Provide authoritative advice to senior leaders and Board; monitor performance and report complex information
  • Manage the fire safety team, budgets and suppliers; coordinate with capital projects, clinical teams and emergency services
  • Drive continuous improvement and effective control of fire risks across the estate

Key requirements

  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Fire Safety Manager (NHS or equivalent)
  • Expert knowledge of fire safety legislation and HTM 05 suite
  • At least 5 years’ experience in supervising Fire Risk Assessments and validating documentation
  • Experience at senior/Board level with external bodies such as Fire and Rescue Services
  • Qualified in key professional areas (IFE/IFSM/Nebosh) and fire risk assessment validation
