Overview
In this role you will lead technical services across a diverse facilities portfolio, ensuring top-quality service delivery, compliance, and efficient resource use. You’ll manage static and mobile engineering teams and align portfolio delivery with client needs and contract requirements. You’ll drive improvements in performance, safety, and financial efficiency while building strong client and subcontractor relationships. Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent technical service across all allocated sites, ensuring compliance with contractual, statutory, and client requirements
- Allocate, schedule, and manage static and mobile engineering teams and resources
- Oversee facilities management operations including planned and reactive maintenance, asset management, and service delivery
- Manage overtime, budgets, and cost control for financial efficiency
- Monitor portfolio performance including subcontractor service delivery, WIP, and debt management
- Scope and support project works ensuring technical standards and contract alignment
- Ensure compliance and QSHE reporting; support emergency response and out-of-hours support
- Maintain documentation and reporting using CAFM and mobile systems
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Escalation point for team; support colleagues to maintain service delivery and teamwork
- Enable capabilities across teams within a matrix organisation and realign portfolios to changes in client demand
- Manage staff sickness, leave, training, and succession planning for operational resilience
- Collaborate with assurance, commercial, and sustainability leads for regulatory compliance and energy efficiency
- Provide monthly performance review input with supporting data analysis for decision-making
- Proactively allocate portfolio work and respond to queries promptly for first-time fixes
- Collaborate with the Service and Governance Manager to manage service desk requests for swift resolution
Key requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services Engineering
- IOSH Managing Safely (essential)
- NEBOSH (desirable)
- Experience in technical service management within facilities management or infrastructure
- Multi-site team leadership including static and mobile teams and client-facing service delivery
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, building services, and asset management
- Experience managing budgets, overtime, and subcontractor performance
- CNI (Critical National Infrastructure) awareness/experience and managing large engineering teams
- Effective communicator with stakeholders
- Strong leadership and team collaboration
- Problem-solving under pressure
- Proficiency with CAFM systems and mobile technology
- Knowledge of KPIs, contractual obligations, and asset management
