Overview
In this role you lead clinical flow across the Trust’s bed base, providing out-of-hours leadership to maintain safe patient movement. You work with in-house teams and external partners to optimise bed capacity and expedite complex discharges. You will chair and participate in MDTs and reviews, ensuring timely admissions and effective use of resources. This position offers a chance to shape patient flow processes within mental health services and contribute to high-quality care delivery.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate bed flow across the RDaSH bed base to optimise patient throughput
- Provide out-of-hours first line managerial response for operational issues
- Develop and execute bed capacity plans with internal and external partners
- Escalate capacity breaches and ensure safe patient flow and resource use
- Gatekeep prospective admissions and facilitate timely discharges
- Lead patient reviews, MDTs and professional meetings with visible clinical leadership
Key requirements
- Professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy (Diploma or Degree)
- Post-registration experience in adult mental health and/or older persons mental health
- Knowledge of mental health acts, CPA, safeguarding, and risk assessment
- Management or clinical leadership experience with supervision responsibilities
- Ability to meet performance and data quality targets and to work with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Motivation and ability to inspire others
- Strong liaison, networking and negotiation skills
- Clinical risk assessment and risk management planning
- Experience with workload management and data quality targets
