Lead Software Engineer – Frontend Engineering – React Native

Overview

In this role you will lead front-end development for Chase UK’s digital banking platform, shaping end-to-end, cloud-native UI solutions within a cross-functional team. You’ll drive architecture decisions, ensure robust SDLC execution, and mentor peers to raise engineering quality. The focus is on scalable, user-centric mobile and web experiences that support a trusted, innovative bank. You’ll work in a fast-paced, distributed environment, applying AI-assisted practices to improve delivery and security. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and ship new features
• Create and maintain clean, efficient, and reusable front-end code
• Conduct thorough testing to ensure robustness
• Troubleshoot and debug to ensure smooth functionality
• Communicate requirements and progress to stakeholders
• Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews
• Stay current with mobile development trends and best practices
• Drive continuous process improvements in development workflows
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality and velocity, with standardized validation and pattern reuse
• Leverage SDLC tools and AI-enabled automation to enhance delivery

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification in JavaScript concepts
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and ES6+
• Ability to write testable, clean JavaScript and familiarity with unit tests
• Experience working in an Agile, distributed team
• Excellent written and verbal English communication
• Experience leading use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with emphasis on correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, security, and resiliency in engineering workflows
