In this role you will advise PayPal’s regulated entities on UK and EU payment and prudential regulation. You will navigate regulatory change, engage with supervisory authorities, and contribute to governance across a fast-paced, global FinTech environment. You will collaborate with cross‑functional partners to shape product, policy, and compliance strategies while safeguarding PayPal’s legal interests. This is an opportunity to influence regulatory outcomes across complex jurisdictions and support PayPal’s growth in Europe. Responsibilities
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to enable business strategy while managing risk
- Resolve complex issues and disputes with expert regulatory insight
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to deliver effective legal services
- Manage legal risks and develop risk management frameworks
- Escalate complex matters to senior legal leadership as needed
- Advise on UK and EU payments and prudential regulatory matters and governance
- Support regulatory change analysis, policy developments, and regulator engagements
- Contribute to corporate governance of PayPal’s regulated entities and approvals
Key requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience and a Juris Doctor or equivalent
- Working knowledge of UK and EU payments and financial services regulation (PSRs, EMRs, PSD2, EMD2; exposure to PSD3 or prudential requirements a plus)
- Experience with contentious regulatory matters, investigations, or enforcement
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, matrixed global organization
- Comfort with senior management, regulators, and cross‑functional stakeholders
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work autonomously over time
- Excellent English drafting and communication skills; additional European languages a plus
- Organized with strong attention to detail and multi-project management
