Overview

In this role you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the 24/7 Emergency Operations Centre, ensuring safe, effective and resilient delivery. You will lead a large multidisciplinary team across call handling, dispatch, triage, remote consultation, workforce and quality assurance, driving performance, improvement and transformation. Working with executive colleagues and system partners, you will shape urgent and emergency care delivery across London and oversee major incidents and high-demand periods. This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of London’s NHS emergency response.

Pay / Benefits

  • Band 8d salary 103,102 to 117,560 a year
  • per annum pro rata incl HCAS

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Operations Centre and its services
  • Lead delivery of operational performance, quality, workforce and financial objectives
  • Develop and implement EOC’s strategic, business and transformation plans
  • Lead workforce planning, organisational development and succession planning
  • Ensure robust governance to manage risk, patient safety and service quality
  • Collaborate with system partners to improve patient pathways and outcomes
  • Provide executive leadership during major incidents and periods of exceptional demand
  • Deputise for the Director of Emergency Operations Centre at forums
  • Lead service redesign, innovation and technology-enabled improvement programmes
  • Foster inclusion, accountability, continuous improvement and staff engagement

Key requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent senior leadership experience
  • Significant senior leadership experience within a complex NHS, healthcare, emergency services or operational environment
  • Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and services
  • Evidence of delivering operational performance, transformation and service improvement
  • Experience of strategic workforce planning and organisational development
  • Strong governance, risk management and patient safety understanding
  • Experience of financial and resource management
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and partnership working skills
  • Experience of managing organisational change and developing high-performing teams
  • Ability to participate in strategic on-call and major incident arrangements
