In this role you will handle a broad range of Court of Protection matters within a busy, well‑established team in Exeter. You work closely with Deputies, vulnerable clients and families, delivering practical, sensitive advice and helping with best interests decisions. You’ll contribute to filings, hearings and statutory applications while using modern case management systems. Responsibilities
- Advising on the Mental Capacity Act and assisting with family disputes
- Preparing Court of Protection applications and Statutory Will applications
- Representing Deputies at hearings and instructing Counsel when needed
- Managing files and coordinating with the Office of the Public Guardian
- Investigating financial abuse concerns and providing sensitive client guidance
- Involvement in business development to grow the department
Key requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive
- Experience in Court of Protection work or mental capacity matters
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication abilities and attention to detail
- Compassionate, client-focused approach
- Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly
