ICT Security Analyst – Braintree District Council

Overview

As ICT Security Analyst you will shield the Council’s systems and data from cyber threats. You’ll be the frontline for security incidents, monitor defenses, and collaborate with partners to keep controls current. You’ll design and maintain security measures across networks, keep documentation up to date, and promote cyber awareness. The role also covers broader ICT duties, including O365 administration and ITIL-based change processes, within a supportive, service-focused team. Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for ICT security issues and coordinate incident response
• Monitor security systems and assess emerging threats
• Design, implement, maintain and monitor security measures across systems and networks
• Maintain cyber security documentation and incident response procedures
• Deliver corporate cyber security training for employees and councillors
• Support O365 administration, infrastructure updates, and application updates
• Provide user support and service desk coordination
• Operate within ITIL and change management processes
• Assist in network/telephony monitoring and desktop/build maintenance
• Provide out-of-hours security monitoring and support as needed

Key requirements

• Level 5 qualification in Cyber Security or equivalent experience
• Experience of managing security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus, authentication, log management, content filtering)
• Understanding of network and operating system security
• Strong communication of technical risks
