Overview

In this role you will support the Planning Division by delivering Power BI reports, dashboards and applications to enable strategic decision-making across the School. You will work closely with cross‑functional colleagues to translate requirements into data models and visualisations, building scalable reporting solutions. The position focuses on developing robust data and visual insights to monitor progress towards strategic objectives. This fixed-term, one-year post offers opportunities for training, hybrid working, and involvement in a major university planning function.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards and applications
  • Execute ETL processes to create reliable reporting datasets
  • Develop and manage semantic data models (dimensional/star schema) and optimize DAX
  • Collaborate with end-users and stakeholders to translate requirements into insights
  • Support training and onboarding for peers and end-users (in-person and online)
  • Contribute to reporting architecture to support strategic decision making across the School

Key requirements

  • Experience designing and maintaining high-quality visualisation reports, dashboards and applications
  • Experience with ETL processes using Alteryx, PowerQuery (M) or Fabric tools to create reliable datasets
  • Experience developing and managing robust semantic models underpinning reporting solutions including DAX optimisation
  • Experience translating business requirements into data models, measures and visualisations for actionable insights
  • Ability to relate to and work with technical and non-technical staff at all levels
  • Ability to provide training and support to peers and end-users in-person and online
