Overview
In this role you design and integrate high- and low-voltage electrical systems for heavy-duty vehicles, supporting architecture development and component selection. You’ll work across CAD tools and validation activities to ensure reliability in harsh, off-highway environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet safety and standards, contributing to future JCB products. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position in a company known for engineering expertise and employee care.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop high voltage electrical systems for heavy-duty vehicles (12V–600V)
- Develop 12V and 24V electrical systems for standard vehicle applications
- Use CAD tools to define vehicle electrical wiring systems (Zuken E3 and Siemens NX preferred)
- Support the development of electrical/electronic system architecture
- Apply safety-critical design principles for off-highway systems
- Specify electrical/electronic components for vehicle applications
- Conduct testing and validation of components and systems
- Produce technical specifications, group standards, and engineering instructions
- Carry out system and installation reviews to standards
- Set up and maintain development and validation rigs
Key requirements
- Minimum HND in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
- Experience in off-highway or automotive electrical system design
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a team
- Proficiency or willingness to learn Zuken E3 and Siemens NX
- Solid understanding of machine electrical components and harness architectures for off-road applications
- Experience in circuit fault detection and diagnostics
- Knowledge of vehicle legislation and standards across UK, Europe, and RoW
