GCP Principal Engineer

Overview

In this role you provide senior technical leadership for complex Google Cloud and hybrid-cloud transformations, steering engineering direction from discovery to delivery to ensure secure, resilient, and scalable solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes. You will work across discovery, design, build, migration, testing, release and early-life support, while also growing capability through reusable assets and knowledge sharing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape architectures and reference patterns that scale across clients. Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for major Google Cloud and hybrid-cloud workstreams, translating business priorities into architectures, roadmaps and delivery plans
• Lead end-to-end solution design across landing zones, networking, identity, security, data and AI platforms, integration, observability, resilience and disaster recovery
• Make and communicate architecture decisions balancing value, security, performance, cost, compliance, operational readiness and delivery risk
• Establish engineering standards for infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated testing, policy as code, configuration management and documentation
• Guide multidisciplinary teams through build, migration, testing, release and early-life support while maintaining alignment with the design
• Lead technical assurance and architecture reviews, identify risks early and drive appropriate actions
• Facilitate client workshops and explain technical choices and trade-offs to senior stakeholders
• Strengthen the Google Cloud capability by creating reusable patterns/assets, contributing to proposals, and coaching architects and engineers

Key requirements

• Experience leading large Google Cloud Platform transformation programmes in complex enterprise environments
• Deep Google Cloud architecture knowledge including landing zones, identity, networking, security controls, logging, monitoring and workload onboarding
• Practical experience with Terraform, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, automated testing, GKE, serverless, and operational observability
• Experience designing secure and resilient solutions using least privilege, defense in depth, encryption, recovery planning, performance engineering and cost optimization
• Consulting experience across discovery, architecture, delivery leadership, assurance, stakeholder engagement and presales
• Evidence of leading major workstreams, influencing senior stakeholders and coaching multidisciplinary teams
