Overview

As Senior Project Manager in our PMCM Education team, you lead high-value, complex infrastructure projects for clients such as the Department for Education. You will steer programmes from conception to delivery, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring value, cost control, and quality. You act as the client’s lead consultant, guiding proposals and balancing stakeholder needs. This role offers the chance to work on landmark education projects globally and to shape delivery through strong leadership and proactive management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from RIBA 1 to 6 with a consultancy PM service for the client
  • Develop plans and strategies to meet project objectives
  • Select, develop and manage the project team
  • Identify and resolve differences among stakeholders
  • Empower and inspire project teams to deliver successfully
  • Agree contracts on behalf of the client in liaison with legal; monitor compliance and variances
  • Produce Feasibility Studies and deliver high-quality reports
  • Proactive management during procurement and construction; engage with Contractors and challenge proposals for quality/value
  • Monitor progress against programmes and implement mitigation where timelines vary

Key requirements

  • Proven track record delivering public sector projects with Local and Central Government; Education delivery desirable
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and CDM regulations
  • Experience from Feasibility through to Operation and deliverables at each stage
  • Experience in procurement of contractors, development of contractual documents, achieving Contract Close
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary client-facing team
  • Experience developing and managing programmes; identifying issues and devising time-related solutions
  • Experience identifying and managing risk and mitigating strategies
  • Experience cost management, collaborating with QS to balance value and quality
  • Chartership to MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent is essential
