Overview

In this role you support and lead clinical research across the Trust, with responsibility for trial setup, delivery and safety in line with regulations. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide medical cover, conduct studies to Good Clinical Practice, and oversee regulatory documentation and records. You will collaborate with the R&D department and RDN to achieve the Trust’s research goals and ensure studies meet targets. Responsibilities

  • Act as principal or sub-investigator for clinical research studies, providing medical cover and ensuring safety, timeliness and target delivery
  • Lead or participate in trial setup, conduct, and management in accordance with regulatory requirements and GCP
  • Maintain accurate regulatory and study records (paper and electronic) as required by authorities and sponsors
  • Engage with the R&D department and local Research Delivery Network (RDN) to support organisational research targets
  • Identify suitable studies and assist with sponsor applications on behalf of the Trust
  • Provide medically informed decisions within their expertise, in consultation with Principal Investigators
  • Foster relationships across Trust departments to aid smooth study setup and operation

Key requirements

  • Completion of core speciality training or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration and a licence to practise
  • Significant practical experience of research delivery
  • Desirable: Experience in audit
  • Desirable: Experience of leadership within a research setting
  • Essential Qualifications: MBBS or equivalent
  • Desirable: MRCP (UK) or equivalent; BSc or intercalated degree
  • Excellent communication with patients and carers
  • Ability to prioritise tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Proven ability to manage acute medical emergencies

  • Proficient with computers and adaptable to new platforms
