Overview

In this entry‑level role, you support SPE’s cyber defense by assisting with alert triage, incident response, and security operations across the enterprise. You will work with cross‑functional teams to detect, investigate, and respond to security events while following established playbooks. You’ll learn to document evidence, escalate appropriately, and contribute to improving incident response processes. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and triage alerts from SIEM, EDR, email security, identity, and cloud platforms
  • Support investigations of suspected events (phishing, malware, credential exposure, suspicious logins)
  • Document evidence, timelines, indicators of compromise, and actions in case management systems
  • Execute containment/remediation steps per playbooks and escalate complex issues
  • Contribute to post‑incident reviews and lessons learned
  • Assist with updating incident response playbooks, procedures, and runbooks
  • Research emerging threats and threat actor behaviors relevant to SPE
  • Coordinate with Security, IT, and business teams for communication and remediation follow‑up
  • Contribute to operational reporting and trend analysis

Key requirements

  • Foundational technical knowledge in networking, OS, IAM, endpoint security, cloud services, email security, and common threats
  • Exposure to SIEM, EDR, ticketing/case management, vulnerability management, or log analysis tools (preferred)
  • Ability to follow playbooks, document steps, preserve evidence, escalate appropriately, and clearly communicate findings
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Collaborative mindset to work with Incident Response, Security Operations, IT, and business stakeholders
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, labs, internships, certifications, or projects
