Overview

In this role you will lead operational fire safety for a social housing provider, shaping the fire safety strategy and driving compliant, risk-based improvements across a large residential portfolio. You’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders, contractors and operational teams to deliver FRAs, compliance assurance and remedial works. You’ll influence resident safety and governance through expert guidance, training and reporting. Responsibilities

  • Undertake and review Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and manage action plans
  • Monitor fire safety compliance and provide assurance against legislation
  • Manage remedial works programmes, contractor performance and QA
  • Conduct fire door inspections and oversee passive fire protection improvements
  • Support resident fire safety initiatives, including PEEPs
  • Investigate fire incidents, identify lessons learned and drive prevention
  • Provide technical advice, guidance and training to colleagues and stakeholders
  • Produce compliance reports and support governance, audits and inspections

Key requirements

  • Recognised Level 4 Fire Safety qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience undertaking Fire Risk Assessments in residential housing or similar built environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, regulations and relevant British Standards
  • Experience managing fire safety compliance, remedial works and contractor performance
  • Knowledge of fire doors, passive fire protection, compartmentation and evacuation planning
  • Excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to apply professional judgement with a risk-based approach to fire safety management
  • Membership of a professional body or additional fire safety qualifications would be advantageous
