Overview

In this Risk Manager role within the Project Controls Team, you help protect project value by identifying, quantifying and prioritizing threats and opportunities on major infrastructure programmes. You will shape risk responses, monitor exposure against budgets and timelines, and communicate status to senior management. You’ll apply quantitative and qualitative risk methods and use industry tools to support contingency planning and time risk allowances. You collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enable informed, proactive decision making across energy, renewables, defence, rail and utilities projects.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate identification, assessment and prioritisation of threats, opportunities and issues
  • Maintain visibility of risk trigger points for cost profiling, budget drawdown or retirement of risk
  • Develop and assess management responses that are measurable and specific
  • Monitor overall risk exposure against remaining budget and timeline
  • Produce and present risk reports to senior management to communicate status and needed actions
  • Understand and apply quantitative risk assessment to inform contingency and time allowances
  • Demonstrate competency with tools such as Safran, @risk, PRA or equivalent
  • Familiarity with web-based reporting tools (ARM, Xactium, Predict, Tableau, PowerBI)

Key requirements

  • Experience in risk delivery on major projects or with blue-chip clients
  • Project experience in energy, renewables, defence, rail or utilities is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Interest in developing new and more effective ways of working
  • Attainment or working towards IRM / APM risk certification preferred
