Senior Consultant – Asset Management & Regulatory Advice – Water Sector

Overview

In this Senior Consultant role, you deliver high-quality regulatory guidance to clients in regulated sectors, leading workstreams or delivering independent assignments with clear, evidence-based analysis. You collaborate with senior leaders to shape regulatory strategy, price controls, and performance frameworks while mentoring junior colleagues. The position focuses on identifying opportunities to reduce risk and improve client effectiveness, positioned within a supportive, growth-minded advisory team. You will build external relationships to elevate the impact of our Regulatory Advice practice and help expand Stantec’s advisory footprint.

Responsibilities

• Lead workstreams within larger engagements or manage smaller assignments independently
• Produce evidence-based regulatory analyses and advice on requirements, price controls, and performance frameworks
• Support price reviews and revenue-setting processes
• Engage with Principals and Directors and mentor junior team members
• Identify opportunities to reduce client risk and improve efficiency
• Build relationships to influence client strategic thinking and raise the profile of the Advisory Services group

Key requirements

• Experience in a regulated sector or regulatory consulting (utilities preferred)
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks, price controls, and performance/incentive regimes
• Experience supporting price reviews or revenue-setting processes
• Familiarity with assurance, audit, or governance concepts
• Understanding of benchmarking or performance measurement
• Experience facilitating workshops or stakeholder discussions
• Strong analytical skills with data and evidence
• Excellent written communication for regulator- or board-facing documents
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities
