You’ll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing large goods vehicles (LGVs) to ensure they are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with transport regulations. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing routine servicing, and carrying out complex mechanical and electrical repairs on trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.nnnKey Responsibilitiesnnn* Perform routine inspections, servicing, and maintenance of LGVs in line with DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) standardsnn* Performing necessary repairs and maintenance on engine components, transmission, brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, and electrical systemsnn* Carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, wheel torques, and brake inspections to prevent breakdownsnn* After repairs, test vehicles to ensure that all issues have been addressed and that the vehicle operates safely and efficientlynn* Conduct MOT preparation and post-test inspections to ensure vehicles meet legal requirementsnn* Maintaining accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and service schedulesnn* Attend breakdowns on site or at the roadsidenn* Keep the workshop, tools, and equipment clean, organised, and well-maintainednn* Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisorsnn* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop efficiency and quality of servicenn* Work collaboratively with other technicians, workshop supervisor, and Transport Managernn* Communicate clearly about repair progress, parts requirements, and potential delaysnn* Provide technical advice and support to apprentices and junior team members.nnnSkills, Knowledge and Expertisennn* NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalentnn* Proven experience as an LGV / HGV Technician or Commercial Vehicle Mechanicnn* Valid UK driving licence (Category C or C+E preferred).nn* Familiarity with DVSA inspection standards, Tachograph systems, and vehicle diagnostic softwarenn* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematicsnn* Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilitynn* Good time management and ability to prioritise workloadsnn* Excellent customer service skillsnn* Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.nnnBenefitsnnn* A tailored, competitive salarynn* Company Pension Schemenn* 33 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidaysnn* Share Saver Scheme participationnn* Company Life Assurance Schemenn* Access to our Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing supportnn* Discounts on a wide range of products through our employee benefits platformnn* Broad learning opportunities and career progression pathways.nnnDiversity Statement:nn At Breedon Group, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued.
