Job Description:

The Grand Hotel Leicester is seeking a knowledgeable, detail orientated Accounts Assistant. You will report to the General Manager/ Finance Manager, supporting/working towards analysing financial information, preparing timely and accurate financial reports and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures at The Grand Hotel Leicester.

The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring SalesInvoices and Credit Notes are raised and posted
  • Balancing andreconcile groups accounts post departure and handling all commissions invoicesdue for payment
  • MonitoringAccounts Receivable (AR) balances, email correspondence and weekly updates tothe HGM
  • Coordinating Purchaseinvoices and reconciliation of delivery notes to invoices received and purchaseorders
  • Processes’commission invoices from Travel Agents
  • Cash Management (pettycash) including banking and compliance of cash records (if applicable)
  • Reconcilingreceipt accounts including cash, credit card and BACS to the respective PMSsystem.
  • Providing monthend deliverables to the Finance stakeholders in accordance with agreedtimetable, including revenue income Journal and aged receivables reports, bankreconciliation and supporting files.
  • Assisting theFinance Stakeholders in the preparation and detailed analysis of monthly,quarterly and annual results
  • Preparing accrualsand bad debt provisions
  • Ensuring Dailyincome audit and property management flash reporting is actioned correctly andgiven daily
  • Managing and review monthly fixed contractschedule against Invoices, payments and scheduled renewals

To be successful in the role of Accounts Assistant we require:

  • In-depth knowledge in a similarbookkeeping role, ideally within the hotel sector (desirable)
  • Completed or studying for abookkeeping qualification such as AAT or other equivalent qualification(required)
  • Knowledge of hotel propertymanagement systems (desirable)
  • Pro-Active problem-solvingskills with the ability to work under pressure and be able to stick to strictdeadlines
  • Organisational skills, attention todetail and the ability to prioritise
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
