Overview
In this role you design and build backend capabilities for a new, green-field platform serving private markets. You will shape architecture, coding standards, and engineering culture while delivering high-quality code and infrastructure on an AWS-based stack. You collaborate with principal engineers and cross-functional teams to own features end-to-end, from design through production operations. Your work will impact platform reliability, observability, and scalability as the team evolves.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services (Go) on AWS with Postgres as core data store
- Own end-to-end features from requirements to production support
- Shape technical design within core services and mentor others via pairing and code reviews
- Define target state architecture, service boundaries, data models, and integration patterns
- Leverage AI tooling to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and implementation while upholding code quality and security
- Collaborate with product, operations, and other engineering teams to integrate with upstream/downstream systems
- Improve engineering practices: automated testing, code review, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response
- Work in an evolving, early-stage environment to shape tooling, standards, and processes as the platform scales
Key requirements
- Senior Software Engineer with production backend experience
- Strong experience in at least one modern backend language (Go, Java, C#) and interest in Go
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, service design, and API design
- Practical experience with relational databases, ideally Postgres: schema design, performance, migrations
- Track record of owning problems end-to-end from stakeholder engagement to production delivery
- Comfort with evaluating AI tooling in workflow while maintaining engineering judgement and quality
- Pragmatic and delivery-focused
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and turn problems into clear technical plans
- Willingness to learn private markets domain
- Go (primary) and openness to other tools
- AWS and Kubernetes
- Postgres and data modeling
