Quality Control Consultant

Overview

In this role you will oversee quality across a major defence infrastructure programme, ensuring mechanical and electrical installations meet project specifications and regulatory standards. You will collaborate with project teams, site management, clients and subcontractors to manage quality documentation, inspections and non-conformances. The position offers hybrid working, long-term project security and opportunities to influence quality performance and continuous improvement. You will contribute to safe, compliant handover and robust QA processes within a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain project quality management procedures
• Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation and commissioning records
• Conduct site inspections and audits across mechanical and electrical installations
• Monitor workmanship standards and ensure compliance with specifications and drawings
• Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions
• Support compilation of handover and quality assurance documentation
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and client representatives
• Participate in quality meetings and provide regular reporting on quality performance
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and project-specific quality requirements
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery teams

Key requirements

• Previous experience in a Quality Control, Quality Assurance or Inspection role within M&E, Building Services, Construction, Defence, Energy or Infrastructure sectors
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical installations
• Experience managing QA documentation and quality systems
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management processes
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficient in document control and reporting systems
• Full UK driving licence
