Overview

In this role you will design, build and operate production software that applies Python, APIs and AI to real business problems in a rapidly scaling renewable energy company. You’ll prototype quickly, collaborate with AI leads and domain experts, and deploy solutions into production with a focus on reliability and observability. You’ll help establish reusable AI engineering patterns as the AI capability grows. This position offers high autonomy and close collaboration with cross-functional teams across development, trading and asset management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify if AI, conventional software, automation or process changes are best.
  • Prototype, test and evaluate solutions from discovery through PoC to production.
  • Develop production software across Python, APIs, data integration and lightweight frontends; incorporate LLMs, retrieval, tool use and agentic workflows.
  • Own deployed solutions, including testing, security, permissions, monitoring and resilience.
  • Help establish reusable AI engineering capabilities and patterns for model access, deployment, evaluation and observability.
  • Shape technology and engineering culture as the AI capability grows.

Key requirements

  • Strong backend Python coding skills
  • Experience designing, building and operating production software
  • Practical experience applying LLMs, retrieval, tool use or evaluation
  • Sound product judgement and ability to work with technical and non-technical users
  • Comfort with moving from experiments to maintainable production code and balancing build vs buy decisions
  • Proactive ownership mentality and problem-solving drive
  • 2.1+ from a top-tier university in a STEM discipline
