Construction Solicitor (Head of Department)

Overview

As Head of Construction in Birmingham, you will lead the expansion of the practice within a national law firm, shaping its strategic direction and market presence. You will leverage an established client following to grow the team and opportunities across construction, development and real estate sectors. You’ll work with cross-functional colleagues to maximise referrals and build a high-performing practice aligned to the firm’s ambitions. This is a leadership role offering impact, platform, and a clear growth trajectory.

Responsibilities

• Lead and set the strategic direction for the Birmingham construction practice and growth
• Advise on a broad range of construction matters (contentious and/or non-contentious)
• Strengthen relationships with key clients and referrers; identify new opportunities
• Collaborate with national colleagues to maximise cross-referral opportunities
• Recruit, mentor and develop lawyers to support expansion
• Raise the profile of the construction team in the Birmingham market
• Contribute to the firm’s wider strategic objectives as part of the partnership
