Head of Financial Services

Overview

In this role you provide senior finance leadership within an NHS Trust, delivering expert technical advice, robust financial governance and strategic challenge across finance, operations and corporate partners. You’ll lead the annual accounts process, statutory and regulatory returns, and ensure IFRS and NHS accounting guidance are met with strong audit readiness. You will build and guide the Financial Services Team, drive continuous improvement and optimise digital financial systems, acting as deputy to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer. Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of the Trust’s annual accounts and statutory/regulatory returns
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, NHS accounting guidance, tax requirements, timetables and audit expectations
• Maintain robust financial controls across ledger, balance sheet, cash, receivables, payables, fixed assets with clear audit trails
• Develop and mentor the Financial Services Team and promote continuous improvement
• Drive digitisation and effective use of digital financial systems
• Deputise for the Deputy Chief Finance Officer as required

Key requirements

• Senior leadership experience in finance within a healthcare/public sector context
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and NHS accounting guidance
• Experience with statutory/regulatory reporting, tax, audits and financial controls
• Proven ability to manage and develop a finance team
• Mandatory professional registration
• Excellent written English and communication skills
