Senior Design Engineer – Civil

Overview

In this role you will lead civil design for complex solar projects in the UK, shaping site development and civil infrastructure. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver designs, drawings, and reports that meet standards and project specs. You’ll guide junior engineers and ensure external deliverables meet quality and compliance, contributing to METLEN’s sustainable energy transition vision.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review civil designs, calculations, drawings, and technical reports
• Design site development, grading, drainage, roads, utilities, earthworks, and concrete/civil structures
• Coordinate civil works with multidisciplinary teams
• Review contractor and consultant deliverables
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers/designers
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications
• Support construction, technical queries, and site activities when required

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• 5+ years of relevant civil design experience
• Strong experience in detailed design and multidisciplinary projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D; BIM/Revit is a plus
• Good knowledge of international/local civil engineering standards
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
• Fluent English
• Full UK driving licence
