Company: Bath & North East Somerset Council
Apply for the Support Worker
Location: Radstock
Job Description:

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.

About The Team

Would you like a varied and rewarding role, supporting people and working in a team? If so, we would love to hear from you. Our provider services support people who have Learning Disabilities and/or Autism with varying levels of need. This is an opportunity to be part of our supported living service, which enables people to live as independently as possible in their own homes and engage in their local communities. This service operates across Bath & North East Somerset.

About The Role

We support people from age 18 upwards. Core support duties include helping people to get ready in the mornings, make meals and wash up, keep their flats tidy, do their laundry with them and generally assist them to be as independent as possible with daily living. We also support people with shopping, learning to cook, social time, engaging in their local communities and accessing activities. At present we particularly need drivers for a person we support who has a mobility car and uses it to go to a great range of activities, including mixed ability rugby, boccia, fitness and Mencap sessions. This would really suit a person who wants to support people to live an active, fulfilled life. We also have roles for non-drivers as we run services at locations in Paulton/Midsomer Norton, Peasedown, Odd Down, Twerton and Keynsham with people supported at those locations accessing public transport or other transport services when they need to get around. All of our roles involve personal care support which means supporting a person to bathe, shower, use the toilet or change a continence pad. We need people who are willing to support each person sensitively, being aware that any of us could need such care at some point in our lives.

You Can Expect

  • A comprehensive induction
  • Regular supervision
  • A supportive team around you
  • A full training programme

To apply you will have:

  • Care experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Transferable skills
  • The ability to work in a physically demanding role

Interview date: TBC

Please note: that this advert may close earlier than the stated closing date due to high demand. We advise all interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
