Job Description:

Commercial Governance and Assurance Manager

Location: Nottingham, with some national travel

PTSG Ltd is a market leader in specialist services to the construction and FM sectors, delivering safety, compliance, and maintenance solutions nationwide.

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to monitor Governance within PTSG Group. This will include providing hands-on contract review, dispute resolution and commercial capability support across the Group.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Head of Commercial Excellence by managing contract reviews, and in turn helping business units identify risk, strengthen controls and improve commercial performance.

This is a full time, permanent role, working 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and is based from our Nottingham office (NG17) on a hybrid basis. The role will also involve travel to other PTSG Group office locations.

What you will be doing:

  • Review key terms- including payment, retention, liability, insurance, notices and delay – against the quotation to identify unpriced commitments.
  • Record and elevate exceptions for documented decisions, maintaining an auditable review trail.
  • Administer and monitor the Delegation of Authority and contract review process, recommending updates to the Head of Commercial Excellence
  • Manage designated live disputes-including contra charges, final accounts and adjudication preparation and provide analysis and recommendations to the Head of Commercial Excellence and Group Legal.
  • Prepare and negotiate commercial submissions, settlements and correspondence to achieve timely, evidence-based outcomes.
  • Maintain a concise tracker of value, risk, status, ownership and next actions; report progress and convert lessons learned into controls, guidance and training.
  • Support Head of Commercial Excellence in delivering a phased programme of targeted health checks, balanced against contract review and dispute priorities.
  • Use health checks to identify control gaps, potential margin leakage and weaknesses in notices, variations and records, agreeing proportionate corrective actions with the relevant business unit.
  • Monitor agreed actions and material risks, escalating significant or repeated non-compliance and reporting relevant trends across disputes, cash, variations and project performance.

What we’re looking for:

Essential experience and knowledge:

  • Substantial senior commercial management or quantity surveying experience in construction, specialist contracting, building services or a comparable project-led environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts, payment legislation, change control, delay, final accounts, claims and dispute resolution.
  • Direct pre-signature review experience, including identifying where contract terms exceed the priced quotation and explaining the risk.
  • Ability to assess complex facts and records, form balanced positions and communicate them clearly.
  • Credibility to challenge senior stakeholders, uphold governance and deliver training, supported by strong Microsoft Office, systems and data skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working across multiple businesses, divisions or acquired companies in a Group environment.
  • Experience developing governance frameworks, assurance reviews, training or toolkits across a multi business group.
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification; RICS or equivalent membership is advantageous.
  • Experience of adjudication, mediation and working with in-house or external legal advisers

What we can offer:

  • A competitive salary
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • 3 x salary life assurance
  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme
  • Discounts on everyday shopping, fashion, tech, holidays, meals out, gyms & more
  • Hybrid working
