Commercial Manager (Water)

Overview

As Commercial Manager in WSP’s Water business, you lead commercial strategy across multi-disciplinary projects, balancing client expectations with project performance. You will embed a culture of commercial excellence, working with internal and external stakeholders to safeguard governance, reporting and risk management. You’ll influence bid and project lifecycles, deliver robust commercial insights, and support business improvements. This role offers exposure to landmark water infrastructure and a chance to shape outcomes for clients and communities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver commercial services to internal and external clients across water and environmental projects
• Provide risk and commercial guidance during bid and project lifecycles
• Ensure suitable prospect governance and robust reporting/forecasting of commercial performance
• Carry out detailed project analyses and report on commercial and financial findings
• Manage changes and commercial risk/opportunity with rigorous controls
• Ensure activities meet internal standards and external requirements
• Support the commercial team’s business improvement initiatives

Key requirements

• A degree (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant discipline
• Background in quantity surveying and project commercial management
• Advanced MS Excel skills and ability to analyze, manage and report commercial data
• Solid knowledge of NEC 3/4 contract administration
• Ability to produce clear, structured reports and present findings confidently
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients and stakeholders
• Experience planning project timescales, resources and commercial inputs and monitoring progress against programme and budget
• Understanding of fee structures and cost drivers across project stages (desirable)
• Open to opportunities in AI applications (desirable)
