Security Consultant

Overview

In this role you will deliver Cyber Essentials Plus and Defence Cyber Certification engagements, working closely with clients to assess and improve security controls. You join a collaborative, growth-oriented team that values curiosity and hands-on contribution to security assurance. You’ll work across recognised frameworks, identify gaps, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance defenses. The opportunity includes funded training and progression within a specialist cyber security business, with a focus on shaping assurance practices and mentoring colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cyber security assessments and assurance engagements
• Support Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments
• Review security controls against frameworks like ISO 27001
• Identify risks and control gaps; propose improvements
• Produce clear reports with practical recommendations
• Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Assist remediation and continuous improvement activities
• Contribute to assurance methodologies and best practices
• Share knowledge and support colleagues’ development

Key requirements

• Certified Cyber Essentials Plus assessor
• Exposure to ISO 27001 and security assurance activities
• Security control assessments and risk management
• Vulnerability management and security governance understanding
• Supplier assurance and cloud security concepts
• Consultancy or client-facing experience
