Support Engineer Smart Buildings

Overview

In this role, you will support the BMS/SMS environment across multiple sites, carrying out planned maintenance and small upgrades while addressing reactive breakdowns. You’ll collaborate with customers and external providers to improve energy performance and deliver clear onsite reports. The position offers a route into a growing SSE Smart Buildings team that values sustainability and practical, tech-forward problem solving. You will work in a flexible, field-based setting with on-call duties to support critical infrastructure. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape building performance and energy efficiency at scale.

Responsibilities

• Carry out BMS pre-planned maintenance, small upgrades and additional works
• Respond to and resolve reactive breakdowns (core hours and out-of-hours standby)
• Identify system improvements to enhance energy performance and software
• Provide detailed reports based on onsite activities

Key requirements

• Trend or Tridium BEMS/HVAC Building Controls experience
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach with stakeholders
• Professional customer service with ability to coach and direct
• Agile working style and flexibility for on-call rota
• Full driving licence
