Senior Network Automation Engineer / Software Developer

Overview

In this hands-on role you design and build automation platforms, APIs, and orchestration for enterprise networks. You’ll influence architecture and standards while solving complex networking challenges at scale. You’ll bridge Networking, Software Engineering, DevOps, and Infrastructure Automation to deliver infrastructure as code and self-service capabilities. You’ll lead the technical direction and mentor others to raise automation quality and impact.

Responsibilities

• Design automation solutions for enterprise network provisioning, configuration management and lifecycle operations
• Build and maintain Python-based services, APIs and microservices for network service delivery
• Develop reusable automation frameworks and templates for scalable infrastructure deployment
• Engineer integrations with network controllers, orchestration platforms, and management systems
• Design and implement automation workflows across routing, switching and data centre environments
• Develop high-quality Python applications with modern software practices
• Produce clean, testable, well-documented code and oversee peer code reviews
• Design REST APIs and service integrations to enable self-service infrastructure and automation
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate testing and deployment
• Apply Infrastructure as Code to ensure consistency across environments
• Improve observability, reliability and operational efficiency through automation
• Act as a technical authority and mentor engineers across Python, automation and networking

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in network automation within large-scale enterprise environments
• Strong software engineering background with Python development expertise
• Experience delivering automation platforms for critical production infrastructure
• Cross-disciplinary experience in networking and software engineering
• Experience designing, building and operating scalable API-driven services
• Proficiency with REST APIs, Git workflows, CI/CD, and automated testing
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Itential, Nautobot, Terraform
• Experience with network orchestration platforms and SDN technologies
• Knowledge of Network as Code methodologies and modern platform engineering practices
• Exposure to containerised workloads and ITSM/instrumentation integrations
