Electrical Department Manager

Overview

In this role you lead and grow AECOM’s Electrical Engineering team in the Kitchener/London region, strengthening capabilities and delivering high‑quality electrical design across buildings and infrastructure markets. You will work with cross‑functional teams nationally to shape the practice, mentor staff, and drive sustainable, future‑ready solutions. Your leadership will align delivery, client relations, and practice growth with AECOM’s mission to build a better world. Responsibilities

• Mentor and develop engineers, designers, and staff to foster a growth‑oriented culture
• Plan staffing, workload, technical capability, quality, and succession readiness
• Provide senior technical leadership on projects with design guidance and quality reviews
• Oversee electrical design across markets (buildings, water, transportation, sustainability, etc.)
• Guide core electrical systems design (MV/LV power, lighting, life safety, controls)
• Collaborate with national practice and other office electrical managers
• Strengthen client partnerships, support proposals, and grow the regional practice
• Improve project outcomes via scope definition, resource planning, coordination, scheduling, and risk identification
• Champion innovation and sustainable design solutions
• Represent AECOM with professionalism to clients, leaders, teams, and stakeholders

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Licensed Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario
• Electrical design and delivery experience in consulting/infrastructure
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and decision‑making skills
• Ability to mentor engineers and staff
• Holding or ability to obtain minimum Reliability Level security clearance
