BMS Commissioning Engineer

Overview

As a field-based Commissioning Engineer, you will deliver BMS and control system projects across the Midlands, supported by a Birmingham team. You’ll configure software strategies, perform wiring checks, and lead plant start-ups, ensuring systems are commissioned to high standards. You will troubleshoot with cross-functional teams and provide technical support to other trades. This role combines hands-on field work with software and graphics development, supporting SSE’s zero-carbon mission.

Responsibilities

• Commission the installation of BMS and control systems per project plans
• Compose software strategies and graphics for projects
• Perform physical wiring checks and plant start-ups
• Troubleshoot system defects and diagnose issues
• Provide technical support to other trades and subcontractors
• Maintain clear communication and reporting with project stakeholders

Key requirements

• Experience commissioning BMS and control systems, especially Siemens PX and Trend IQ4
• Strong communication and reporting skills
• Experience crafting software strategies and graphics
• Full driving licence due to frequent travel
