Location: London
Job Description:

Job Title: Senior HR Business Partner (EMEA)

Salary: Up to £140,0000 + bonus

Hawkwood is partnering with one of the world’s most sophisticated multi-strategy investment firms to hire a Senior People Business Partner for EMEA.

With 5,000+ employees globally and offices across the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, the firm operates across global financial markets, with a high-performing population spanning investment, trading, technology and corporate functions.

Based in London, this role will have a broad EMEA remit, partnering with teams across London, Tel Aviv, Dubai and a number of smaller regional offices. The business has continued to grow significantly over recent years and is now looking to further evolve how HR partners with the business.

This role will play an important role in that shift, helping move the Business Partnering function from a more reactive model towards proactive, strategic partnership.

The Opportunity

You will partner closely with senior leaders across EMEA, supporting a broad and evolving client group with significant exposure to the trading side of the business.

The role will cover the full spectrum of business partnering, from org design, workforce planning, talent and performance through to complex ER and day-to-day people challenges. This isn’t an environment where everything sits neatly within a defined remit. You could be advising a senior leader on the structure of their team one day and managing a sensitive ER matter the next.

We are looking for someone who enjoys that breadth and can operate strategically, while still being comfortable rolling their sleeves up when needed.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Partner closely with senior leaders across EMEA, building a strong understanding of their teams, priorities and challenges.
  • Help shift the BP function towards a more proactive and strategic approach, identifying people challenges before they become problems.
  • Advise on organisational design, workforce planning, team structures, talent, succession and performance.
  • Own complex employee relations matters including performance, conduct, grievances, investigations and exits.
  • Coach managers and senior leaders on people challenges, building capability and supporting better decision-making.
  • Work closely with Employment Legal and Compliance on sensitive employee matters and employment-related risk.
  • Use people data and trends to identify areas of risk and opportunity across the business.
  • Support change, restructures and wider organisational projects across EMEA.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, People Operations, L&D, Global Mobility and Reward on broader people initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of the People function, including how AI and technology can be used more effectively across HR.

What You Will Bring:

  • Significant experience as an HR Business Partner, ideally within financial services or another high-performance environment.
  • Experience partnering with senior, commercially focused stakeholders.
  • Exposure to trading or investment populations would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong hands-on ER experience, including managing complex and sensitive cases.
  • Good knowledge of UK employment law, alongside experience supporting employees across EMEA.
  • Experience across areas such as organisational design, workforce planning, talent and performance.
  • Commercial, pragmatic and comfortable challenging senior stakeholders when needed.
  • Able to operate in an environment where priorities change quickly and there isn’t always a set playbook.
  • You’re happy operating at both ends of the spectrum – strategic when needed, but willing to get into the detail!

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be genuinely close to the business and have the scope to influence how the Business Partnering function develops.

The structure is relatively flat, senior stakeholders are accessible and there is plenty of opportunity to get involved outside of your immediate remit.
