A Local Authority is looking for an experienced Food Standards Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract, with potential for extension.

The role will focus on Food Standards inspections, allergen compliance and enforcement activity, working across a varied caseload.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertaking Food Standards inspections
• Carrying out allergen and compliance work
• Inspecting unrated food premises
• Investigating Food Standards issues and complaints
• Supporting formal enforcement action where required
• Managing a varied caseload and maintaining accurate records
• Working closely with colleagues and other relevant agencies
• Travelling locally to undertake inspections

What We’re Looking For

• Recent Local Authority Environmental Health or Trading Standards experience
• Recent Food Standards competency
• Experience undertaking Food Standards inspections
• Knowledge of allergen compliance and enforcement
• Experience with formal enforcement activity
• Good communication and report-writing skills
• Relevant Food Standards qualification recognised by the Food Standards Agency
• Own vehicle/transport required

Contract Details

• Initial 6-month contract with potential extension
• £45 – £50 per hour + mileage
• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• Hybrid working
• Regular office attendance required
