Management Accountant – Basildon – £45,000 – £55,000
A well-established and growing manufacturing and distribution business based in Basildon is looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join its finance team.
This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work closely with the Financial Controller and wider senior management team, providing accurate financial reporting and commercial insight across the business.
The role would suit a part-qualified or qualified accountant who enjoys working in a commercially focused environment and wants exposure beyond the traditional month-end function.
The role:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
- Full P&L and balance sheet analysis
- Month-end journals, accruals and prepayments
- Balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variances
- Monthly management reporting and commentary
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Cash flow reporting and analysis
- Analysis of sales, gross margins and overheads
- Stock and inventory reporting, including stock movements and valuation
- Product/customer profitability analysis
- Supporting year-end accounts and audit requirements
- Assisting with financial planning and business forecasting
- Providing financial insight to operational and commercial teams
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting
- Supporting the Financial Controller with ad hoc commercial analysis and projects
About you:
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA part-qualified, finalist or qualified – or equivalent practical experience
- Previous management accounting experience within a commercial business
- Manufacturing, distribution, engineering, logistics or stock-based business experience would be advantageous
- Strong Excel skills and comfortable working with large data sets
- Experience with an ERP/accounting system
- Good understanding of stock, margins and cost analysis
- Commercially minded with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and able to work to tight month-end deadlines
- Someone who enjoys getting into the detail but can also step back and understand the wider commercial picture
The package:
- £45,000 – £55,000 depending on experience and qualification
- Monday – Friday, office based in Basildon
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
