Information Technology Engineer

• Telford (two sites, about 10 minutes apart)
• Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00, with occasional call-outs
• Full-time, permanent – Onsite role

About the role

We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading global manufacturing business in Telford for an experienced IT Engineer to join their established IT team. This is a hands-on infrastructure role.

You’ll keep VMware, Cisco and server environments secure, reliable and available across office and production environments, working alongside local and global IT teams and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain VMware ESXi/vSphere environments, including VM provisioning, snapshots, templates, patching and capacity planning
• Configure and maintain Cisco switches and routers: VLANs, trunking, routing, IOS upgrades and network hardening
• Support Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
• Carry out backup validation, recovery testing and disaster recovery testing
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless and VPN issues
• Install and rack servers and network equipment, and handle break-fix and hardware replacement
• Apply security patches, remediate vulnerabilities and review system logs
• Coordinate upgrades and maintenance windows, and keep documentation and asset records up to date

What we’re looking for

• Experience in an infrastructure, systems or network engineering role, ideally in manufacturing or an industrial setting
• Hands-on VMware ESXi/vSphere administration (around 3 years preferred)
• Strong Cisco switching and routing knowledge (around 3 years preferred)
• Solid Windows Server and AD experience, plus working Linux knowledge
• Backup, DR and security patching experience
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
• VCP, CCNA or ITIL would be advantageous
