Are you passionate about delivering excellent repairs services and ensuring tenants receive the quality they deserve? Our growing In-House Maintenance Team is seeking a Quality Inspector to play a key role in enhancing repair quality, tenant satisfaction, and service performance. Through inspections, quality assurance activities, and investigations, you will help ensure repairs are completed right first time, lessons are learned from service failures, and our tenants receive the high standard of service they expect and deserve.
This is more than simply identifying when something isn’t right. You’ll work with our operatives, contractors and repairs teams to understand tenant dissatisfaction, quality issues, identify where improvements are needed and help prevent repeat repairs and service failures.
With a varied mix of on-site inspections and office-based tasks and analysis, it’s a great opportunity to use technical knowledge while playing a direct role in improving the quality of our repairs service and the experience our tenants receive.
What will you be doing?
As a Quality Inspector, you will provide independent assurance on the quality and effectiveness of the repairs service through the assessment and investigation of completed repairs and customer interactions. You will monitor compliance with service standards, identify trends and root causes, share learning opportunities, and support continuous service improvement. The role plays a key part in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused repairs service that drives performance, compliance, and tenant satisfaction.
Responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Conduct quality inspections of completed repairs to ensure compliance and quality standards.
- Identify defects, service failures, and non-compliance, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Investigate repeat repairs, complaints, and tenant dissatisfaction to identify root causes and drive improvements.
- Monitor and follow up on corrective actions to ensure issues are resolved effectively.
- Assess tenant satisfaction and use feedback to improve service delivery and customer experience.
- Monitor contractor and operative performance, providing feedback to improve quality and first-time fix rates.
- Collaborate with operational teams to enhance repair quality, performance, and tenant outcomes.
- Communicate inspection findings and resolutions clearly with tenants and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and produce reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance and support continuous improvement, innovation, and compliance with the Decent Homes Standard.
What are we looking for?
You’ll have a strong understanding of repairs, maintenance or construction and be confident assessing completed works against expected quality and compliance standards.
You’ll need a good eye for detail, but you’ll also need to be comfortable dealing with people. You’ll regularly work with operatives, contractors, colleagues and tenants, so being able to explain issues clearly and work constructively with others to put things right will be important.
Our ideal candidate?
Your CV will clearly demonstrate:
- A relevant qualification in construction, building inspection, surveying or a related discipline (e.g. NVQ, HNC or equivalent).
- Experience carrying out quality inspections within a repairs, maintenance, housing or similar construction environment, including identifying defects, non-compliance and required corrective actions.
- Good working knowledge of building regulations, Health & Safety requirements and relevant construction standards.
- Experience working with contractors and other stakeholders to address quality issues, monitor standards and support improvements in service delivery.
Working as a Quality Inspector
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend every day behind a desk.
You’ll split your time between visiting our properties to inspect completed works and office-based activity, reviewing findings, maintaining records, investigating trends and working with colleagues to improve performance.
As you’ll be travelling to our properties, a full UK driving licence is essential. A company van and fuel card are provided for business use.
