Field Service Technician | Transport Infrastructure | London
Do you want a hands‑on engineering role where your work keeps a major transport network running, and where people stay because the job is well run? This is a field‑based role supporting critical transport infrastructure across London and the surrounding areas. You will work on electromechanical systems in a regulated rail environment with strong planning and structure behind your work.
What’s in it for you?
- Long-term stability in essential infrastructure, with consistent work in a sector that does not slow down.
- A team with real longevity, where many vacancies come from retirement and internal promotion rather than turnover.
- Home‑start working with a fully equipped vehicle, so less commuting and more control over your time.
- A clear path into senior technician or team leader roles.
- A company vehicle, tools, PPE, fuel and insurance provided, plus private healthcare and a pension.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out fault finding, repair and preventative maintenance on transport and gate systems.
- Attend planned and reactive jobs across the London network using a tablet‑based job system.
- Work independently while following strict safety and compliance procedures.
- Complete job reports accurately and manage allocated stock and equipment.
- Take part in team briefings and occasional depot visits.
Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience in electrical and/or mechanical based roles.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points, allowing you to operate a company vehicle safely.
- Willingness to work in a regulated rail environment, including drug and alcohol testing requirements.
