The Opportunity
We are seeking a technically minded and customer-focused Technical Support Engineer to support the delivery, operation and maintenance of advanced military training and simulation systems used by UK Land Forces.

The role would suit candidates with a background in technical support, communications systems, simulation environments, electrical/electronic engineering, maintenance, or military technology support. Whilst previous military experience would be advantageous, it is not essential for candidates with strong technical troubleshooting and customer support skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver training support using advanced simulation and synthetic training systems.
- Act as the main point of contact for users, instructors and customers during training activities.
- Carry out routine equipment inspections, maintenance and fault-finding activities.
- Diagnose technical issues, provide first-line resolution where possible, and elevate complex faults to engineering teams.
- Ensure training systems remain operational, available and fit for purpose.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, testing and site acceptance activities.
- Produce training and post-exercise reports, capturing lessons learned and performance data.
- Build strong working relationships with military personnel and key stakeholders.
- Monitor system performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the onboarding and mentoring of new team members when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and working directly with customers.
You will be comfortable working independently for extended periods and confident managing your own workload whilst maintaining regular communication with the wider support team.
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical aptitude with proven fault-finding and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience supporting technical equipment, systems or software in an operational environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
- Customer-focused approach with strong relationship-building skills.
- IT literate and comfortable learning new technologies and systems.
- Ability to prioritise work effectively and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience recording, managing and escalating technical faults.
- Strong organisational and reporting skills.
Desirable Experience
- Military experience, particularly within technical, communications or support environments.
- Royal Signals or similar communications systems background.
- Electrical or electronic engineering experience.
- C4I/C4ISR system knowledge.
- Simulation or training systems experience.
- First-line and second-line support experience.
- Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience.
- Experience supporting military training environments.
What Makes This Role Different?
This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of military simulation and training technology, supporting systems that help prepare personnel for real-world operations. You will play a key role in maintaining critical training capability while building trusted relationships with military users and technical specialists alike.
Applicants must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance and be able to provide evidence of identity and right to work within the UK.
