Senior Plant Technician & Operations Coordinator
Biophilic Designs | London
Location: Central London client sites, with home based administration and coordination
We are a specialist interior planting and biophilic design business working across commercial offices, hospitality, private clients and high profile workplace environments.
We design, install and maintain planting schemes across central London, including interior planting, exterior terraces, preserved moss, living walls, bespoke planters and project led biophilic installations.
The business is small, established and hands on, with a strong client base and a reputation for thoughtful, high quality work. We are now looking for an ambitious and practical individual to work closely with the founder across the day to day running and future development of the business.
We are looking for an experienced plant professional who enjoys practical work and is ready to take greater responsibility for organising day to day operations.
Working directly with the founder and alongside our maintenance team, you will combine regular plant maintenance and installation work with scheduling, supplier coordination and client communication. You will have the opportunity to see your work through, build relationships with clients and help shape how the business operates.
The role
Plant care and practical delivery:
- Maintain indoor and outdoor planting across client sites, including watering, feeding, pruning, cleaning and presentation.
- Identify plant health issues, pests and unsuitable growing conditions, and recommend appropriate action.
- Arrange and carry out plant replacements and improvements.
- Assist with installations, site preparation and the movement of plants, planters and materials.
- Maintain consistent standards and record any issues requiring follow-up.
Day to day coordination:
- Help organise maintenance schedules, site access and team workloads.
- Coordinate plants, materials, suppliers and deliveries.
- Handle routine client enquiries and provide clear updates on planned or completed work.
- Help plan installations and ensure the necessary people and materials are ready.
- Keep straightforward records of visits, outstanding tasks and purchasing requirements.
- Spot practical improvements and take ownership of resolving routine problems.
The balance between site work and coordination will vary with the schedule. Regular practical plant care is a central part of the position.
What we are looking for
- Practical experience in professional plant maintenance, interior landscaping or a closely related horticultural role.
- Good plant knowledge and the ability to recognise and address common plant health problems.
- Strong organisation, reliable follow-through and confidence managing your own workload.
- A professional, approachable manner with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
- Confidence using email, calendars, spreadsheets and straightforward digital systems.
- A willingness to get involved in installations and practical tasks.
- A full driving licence valid in the UK and confidence driving when required for work.
- The ability to travel between London client sites.
Previous experience coordinating colleagues, schedules or projects would be valuable. We would also welcome an experienced plant technician who has demonstrated initiative and is ready to step into a broader role.
You will work closely with the founder, have a direct influence on the quality of our service and enjoy variety across plant care, installations and coordination.
As you become familiar with the business, there is scope to take increasing responsibility for day to day operations. We are looking for someone who values autonomy, takes pride in their work and wants to become a trusted and integral part of a small, growing team.
