Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design and deliver advanced software for defence and maritime systems. You work across the full software lifecycle, from requirements and design to development, integration and testing, within a cross-functional team. You will build robust C++ solutions, integrate with external systems and sensors, and contribute to front-end GUIs in an Agile environment. The role offers impact in complex, mission-critical projects and requires eligibility for UK Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software solutions using C++
• Design back-end systems, communication layers and client-server applications
• Develop front-end GUIs
• Integrate software with external systems and sensors
• Unit and simulation-based testing
• Work within an Agile/SCRUM environment

Key requirements

• Strong C++ development experience
• Object-oriented programming and software design experience
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns
• Experience with debugging and fault finding
• Understanding of networking and data serialization
• Database and front-end development experience
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience with Qt, QML, DDS, PostgreSQL, STL, XML or sensor integration would be highly beneficial
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance
