Senior / Commercial Managers – Rail

Overview

In this role you will act as a Senior/Cost Manager embedded in a client office to support UK rail infrastructure projects. You will oversee contract administration, cost monitoring and forecasting, and governance to ensure delivery within budgets. You will collaborate with client and contractor teams to drive programme performance and value engineering. The position offers hybrid working and a chance to shape outcomes on major rail programmes.

Responsibilities

• Administer contracts in line with project objectives and policies
• Provide accurate cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to budget
• Pro-actively manage cost variance and contract cash flow; ensure timely applications
• Collaborate with client and contractor teams to deliver KPIs, programme performance, and value engineering
• Manage contract changes within governance; promote best practice
• Enhance forecast accuracy and budget controls

Key requirements

• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or degree-level education (preferred)
• Successful experience delivering rail projects in a commercial environment
• Experience in mentoring and/or management
• Knowledge of railway and construction industry conditions of contract
• Experience resolving contractual disputes
• At least 5 years’ relevant railway and/or construction experience
• Ability to work on contracts independently
