Senior Layout Integration Engineer

Overview

As Senior Layout Integration Engineer you will lead the development of integrated plant layouts for Fusion and Modular Nuclear programmes, acting as the technical focal point for major plant areas. You will drive multidisciplinary coordination, resolve interfaces, and push design maturity through reviews and engineering studies. You’ll own layout work packages, ensuring quality, integration and schedule commitments. This role suits a hands-on engineer who shapes layout solutions with safety and constructability in mind.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant layout development from concept through detailed design
• Develop equipment, piping, cable tray, access and maintenance layouts
• Coordinate interfaces between systems, buildings, structures and supporting infrastructure
• Lead clash detection, model reviews and multidisciplinary workshops
• Ensure layout solutions meet system, safety, construction and maintenance requirements
• Author engineering reports, optioneering studies and recommendations
• Mentor engineers and designers
• Support layout standards, methodologies and best practices

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; or equivalent industrial experience
• Significant experience in plant layout, piping layout, plant integration or multidisciplinary engineering delivery
• Experience leading plant area development and multidisciplinary coordination
• Experience facilitating design reviews, model reviews and technical workshops
• Proficiency with CAD/BIM platforms: E3D, PDMS, Plant 3D, Siemens NX, Revit, Inventor or similar
• Experience using Navisworks or equivalent clash detection software
• Strong understanding of equipment arrangement, piping layout and constructability
• Experience supporting gated design review processes and technical governance
• Strong report writing, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
• SC Clearance or capable of achieving it
