Senior Software Engineer

Company: Findifox Ltd.
Apply for the Senior Software Engineer
Location: Poole
Job Description:

FindiFox is building privacy-first positioning technology for child safety. Our first product, Spark One, is a small wearable and app that helps parents find their child fast in the crowded, indoor and multi-floor places where GPS gives up. We’re a Dorset startup, and this month we started an 18-month R&D project backed by Innovate UK.

The role

You’ll own the iOS app that parents rely on when it matters most. That means everything from a calm, clear interface to the deep background work: Bluetooth, location, and the link between the phone, our wearable and our servers. You’ll work in Swift and Objective-C++, bridging the app to our shared C++ core, which also runs on Android, our OpenBSD servers and our Zephyr-based firmware.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build the iOS app, from the interface through to background Apple services
  • Write resilient Swift and Objective-C++ that talks reliably to our firmware and servers
  • Set the testing strategy for a safety product, where reliability isn’t optional
  • Own CI/CD and App Store releases
  • Take ownership of milestones, architecture decisions and documentation

What you’ll need

  • 5+ years designing, building and shipping production iOS apps
  • Strong Swift, and working Objective-C++ (or solid C++ alongside Objective-C)
  • A good grasp of networking, data security and encryption
  • The rigour to turn strict safety requirements into robust code
  • Confidence to own a module end to end, and experience working with external teams and contractors
  • Git and Jira
  • Based in the UK with the right to work here (we can’t sponsor visas), and able to get to Poole or Bournemouth occasionally

Nice to have (nobody has all of these, and we don’t expect you)

  • SwiftUI with MVVM or The Composable Architecture, bridged to UIKit and Objective-C++
  • Core Location: background tracking, significant location changes, geofencing
  • Core Bluetooth (BLE 5.1+, direction finding), UWB and Nearby Interaction, Wi-Fi RTT or LoRa
  • App Intents, SiriKit and widgets; Find My network accessories; CloudKit, SharePlay or Contacts
  • Exposure to Android, OpenBSD or Zephyr
  • Jenkins and App Store Connect release workflows

What we offer

  • Fixed-term employment (PAYE) to 31 March 2028, tied to our Innovate UK project, with the potential to become a permanent role after this
  • £35,000 to £45,000 a year depending on experience, full-time
  • Remote within the UK, with occasional days together in Poole, Dorset
  • 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays (pro rata) and a workplace pension
  • You’ll report to our CTO, in a small senior team where your work ships
  • Start: ideally by January 2027

FindiFox welcomes applicants from every background.
