Job Summary

The TACTICS Curriculum Development Officer will support the development of joint cross-border Fire & Rescue Emergency Service (F&RES) training programmes, operational guidance, and accredited learning materials designed to enhance interoperability between emergency response agencies in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Working collaboratively with the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS), Republic of Ireland Fire & Rescue Services (ROIFRS), the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management (NDFEM), South West College (SWC), and Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB), the postholder will coordinate the development of standardised cross-border training approaches, operational procedures, facilitator programmes, and interoperability frameworks.

The role will primarily support curriculum and training development within the specialist operational areas of Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) and High Volume Pumping (HVP), contributing to improved preparedness, mutual aid capability, and coordinated emergency response during major incidents.

The postholder will work closely with technical specialists, partner organisations, and awarding bodies to develop high-quality training manuals, facilitator resources, operational documentation, and accredited programmes that will form part of the long-term legacy and sustainability of the TACTICS Programme.
