An established and growing M&E contractor is looking for an Electrical Project Manager to join its Milton Keynes team. The business has a strong pipeline of commercial work and delivers electrical and wider building services projects across the region. You will join a close-knit team where decisions are made quickly, senior management is accessible and you will have the freedom to run your projects properly.
You will manage electrical projects from pre-construction through to handover, taking responsibility for procurement, programmes, installation, testing, commissioning and commercial performance. Projects include commercial fit-outs, CAT A and CAT B refurbishments, design and build schemes, electrical infrastructure upgrades and specialist building services installations. It is a hands-on role with plenty of ownership and a varied workload.
The Role
- Manage electrical projects from pre-construction through to practical completion and handover
- Take control of procurement, programmes, installation, testing and commissioning
- Coordinate subcontractors, engineers, supervisors, suppliers and site teams
- Monitor budgets, variations, valuations, forecasts and project performance
- Work closely with clients, consultants, main contractors and the wider design team
- Manage RFIs, technical queries, design changes and project documentation
- Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, architectural and structural packages
- Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging and final handover
- Keep quality, health and safety, RAMS, permits and CDM requirements on track
- Identify technical, commercial and programme risks and deal with issues quickly
What You’ll Need
- Experience working as an Electrical Project Manager within building services, M&E or electrical contracting
- A background delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment or design and build projects
- Good technical knowledge of LV distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, fire alarms, structured cabling, security systems, UPS, standby power, BMS integration, testing and commissioning
- Experience managing subcontractors, site teams, programmes and procurement
- Commercial awareness, including budgets, variations and cost control
- Good knowledge of current UK electrical standards, health and safety and CDM requirements
- SMSTS and a CSCS or ECS card
- An electrical qualification such as an HNC, HND or degree would be useful, although strong practical experience will also be considered
- Based within commuting distance of Milton Keynes and able to travel to project locations when required
