Senior Mechanical Engineer – Waste & Generation

Overview

In this Senior Mechanical Engineer role, you contribute to a diverse Waste & Generation portfolio, supporting energy-from-waste, district heating, gasification, hydrogen, and bioenergy projects. You work across the full lifecycle from optioneering to installation, driving robust mechanical designs and technical deliverables. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape sustainable energy solutions and deliver impactful projects across the UK&I.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and technical investigations
• Develop mechanical designs, specifications, and project-wide solutions
• Support production of drawings, 3D models, P&IDs, schedules and reports
• Prepare specifications and scoping documents for construction packages
• Review vendor designs and monitor progress
• Contribute across the full project lifecycle from feasibility to installation

Key requirements

• Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer
• Background in energy, power, or process-plant sectors
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems (steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass, EfW)
• Chartership status ideal or actively progressing towards it
