Senior Risk Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead risk management across the full project lifecycle, from bids to delivery, shaping risk approaches and governance for complex programmes. You will work with cross‑functional teams to maintain risk registers, cost and schedule risk models, and mitigation plans, driving informed decision‑making. You will provide risk assurance to stakeholders and mentor others, contributing to a high‑quality risk management culture. This is a mission‑critical role within QinetiQ’s defence technology environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive best practice and implementation of risk management systems to support project and programme delivery
• Collaborate with project teams to maintain high‑quality risk registers, mitigation plans, and tailored risk management approaches
• Analyse and report risk data, including cost and schedule models, to inform decision‑making
• Advise teams on risk exposure, contingency, and operational impacts of risk strategies
• Lead complex projects, delivering effective risk management outcomes
• Engage stakeholders and provide risk assurance and recommendations aligned with organisational processes and controls

Key requirements

• In‑depth knowledge of risk management across the full project lifecycle and related governance, assurance, data analysis, and reporting
• Extensive experience in working within project teams and leading risk management
• Experience developing and implementing new risk processes, standards, or plans
• Coaching, reviewing, and delegating work to lower‑level professionals; mentoring and supervision
• Experience using Predict! Risk Controller and Predict! Risk Analyser
• Eligibility for SC clearance (security Vetting) or willingness to obtain
